Expert Mode

Some advanced settings and features are only visible in expert mode.

Activating the expert mode

It can be switched like this:

View > Expert Mode

or

Edit > Preferences... > Checkbox Expert mode at the bottom left.

Prior to version 4840:

Edit > Preferences... > Top-most button on the left ( Display Settings) > Look and Feel > Expert mode

Features that are hidden unless expert mode is enabled

The following feature are not visible when the Expert mode is not enabled (list is probably incomplete):

• Actions:
  • Convert to GPX layer
  • Add selection to relation
• File menu:
  • Save Session As ...
  • Export to GPX ...
  • Download from Overpass API
  • Close open changesets
• Edit menu:
  • Purge
• View menu:
  • Viewport Following
  • Jump To Position
• Tools menu:
  • Mirror
  • Follow Line
  • Add Node...
  • Move Node...
• Edit modes:
  • Delete mode
  • Parallel way mode
  • Extrude mode
  • Improve way accuracy mode
• Toggle Dialogs:
  • Changeset List Dialog
• Windows:
  • Search > some functions and examples
  • Relation Editor > the function "Sort the currently selected members and all members below"
  • Conflict Dialog > resolve all selected conflicts to my/their versions
  • The reuse history window when using the Split way Action
• Preferences:
  • Display Settings > GPS Points - various options
  • Display Settings > OSM Data - Options that affect drawing performance
  • Display Settings > Look and Feel - some options
  • Advanced Preferences
