JOSM is blocked by autosave

While editing it happens for every now and then, that JOSM is blocked for a while. No user action is possible. I'm running JOSM from an USB stick, if it matters.
Last time it was really annoying:

I press "save" > 1 minute delay for 1.2 MB saving, triggerd by me.

I pressed the close box (upper right corner) and selected "discard upload" (save to file was not offered), again > 1 minute delay for what reason? LED of USB stick was flashing while blocking.

manual save and autosave are 2 different things, what are you referring to?

Btw.: It does not matter if you are running it from usb stick, but if you are saving the file on that stick. (But this shouldn't be a problem, either.)

The manual save was mentioned to show that between "intentionally save" and close was no further action. Problematic delay was at close (like autosave?).

All work files are on that USB stick (*.osm; *.gpx;) include josm.home .
