412 precondition failed - Split and merge ignore relations?

I'm using the latest jar file (as of 07th October 2007).
When I try to upload the changes, JOSM uploads updated and modified objects, but when it starts to send info to server about deleted objects I get the following message box:
Error while parsing: An error occured: 412 precondition failed.
This happens every time I try to upload the info about the deleted objects.

When I try to edit the golf_course way with id=8137121, I experience similar problems. After API0.5 it somehow became part of a multipolygon. JOSM does not allow me to directly delete this way, YET I'M ABLE TO COMBINE AND SPLIT IT AND THEN DELETE IT CAUSING A 412. This is true for JOSM 381 and older.

How do I remove it from the relationship ?

The relationship can be removed, at the bottom of the properties panel of the way, relationships should be listed under 'Member of'. Double click the listed item. In the resulting dialog, remove the appropriate way with the delete button.

True - merging of ways did not check for relationship membership. It does now.
