#23834 new defect

Sidebar sometimes cannot be hidden

Reported by: gaben Owned by: team
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: Core Version:
Keywords: template_report sidebar focus Cc:

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Launch a new instance of JOSM
  2. Download some data, do not click anywhere just yet
  3. Bash the tab button until the sidebar finally does something

What is the expected result?

The sidebar can be hidden anytime.

What happens instead?

It can be hidden after some time. I reproduced it on both Windows and Linux.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

I suspect it's a focus issue because if I click on the map view, the sidebar immediately starts to work as expected.

Sounds similar to other focus problem when the mouse pointer stops indicating the active edit mode where I also suspect the download dialog to play a role. On Linux, I usually get it sorted out using the windows key twice. See #5381 and #22870.
