Fully automatic OAuth does not work
Reported by: | Val42 | Owned by: | team |

Priority: | normal | Milestone: | |
Component: | Core | Version: | tested |
Keywords: | OAuth | Cc: |
Description
Attempting to get an OAuth token. Click on "Authorize now (Fully automatic)" button does NOTHING.
JOSM 19096
Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
java 21.0.3 2024-04-16 LTS
Cannot upload the changes I have made as a result. Attempted to use non-OAuth upload, but there is apparently no longer an alternative to OAuth uploads. (See attached image.)

Replying to Val42:
Click on "Authorize now (Fully automatic)" button does NOTHING.
That is strange. The button should open a web browser tab where you first need to login with your OSM credentials (if not already logged in at www.osm.org) and then you need to allow JOSM to use OAuth2. I miss the advanced preference browser.unix
in your status report which would give a hint about the web browser that should be used by JOSM.
Some things to check.
- Please, make sure that your are only running one instance of JOSM.
- Maybe, starting JOSM from the console (terminal) gives more hints about the problem.
- Take a look at your user's preferences at OSM. If JOSM is listed under the last tab (OAuth2 authorized applications) you could try to revoke your previously created token.

One more reason could be a blocked port, see Taylor's comment in the forum.
