What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Install JOSM
- Open JOSM
What is the expected result?
Have a usable UI.
What happens instead?
See a UI displaying text with a height of about 1 mm

Please upgrade to at least Java 11 and tell results.

Perhaps showing a warning when starting JOSM with java 8 on a 4k display and suggest upgrading to Java 11.

I remember, on debian, I had to set/pass a variable the last time I had access to a hidpi display. Think it was GDK_SCALE=2
.
Best description I found for settings with hidpi was on the arch linux wiki page (HiDPI). See section Java.
