Export map to .png

Since there's a lot of work going lately on map styles, it would be reasonable to finally add an option to file menu to export part of map (for example, only visible part) as raster image. But not as-is (there's PrtScrn button for that), but with adjustable zoom, to simplify rasterizing of large map areas. It will probably be easier that to make an entire window of "select region" (but it won't hurt :)

What do you mean by raster image with adjustable zoom?

I mean an option to select zoom level on which to render map when exporting. So this is not just a screenshot tool, but a mean to create large ready-to-print images of visible area. In absence of "Print" option this would be quite useful (for preparing walking papers, as an example).

Isn't JOSM now able to export png of its map? I heard it's being used for testing.

I only know the "osmarender" plugin but did not use it for years now.

There's a print plugin now :)

Print plugin is useless and dead. You can ony print a small and random part of you map with it. This issue is definitely NOT closed.

Not sure how a printer plugin solves this. Can you please elaborate?
