Description
There was sent out information on the talk@ mailing list that JOSM will migrate from Java5 to Java6. Dates are still a little in the blue, but
Can someone with more knowledge of the matter set up a web page about the impact of the upcoming migration from Java5 to Java6, and how to solve this on various systems. Not all of us have the luxury to upgrade java versions when we like to, for various reasons.
I would like you to set up a page on the OSM wiki where we, the users can see what problems can be expected, and exchange advises and solutions to other in a similar situation.
Personally I use Mac OS X Leopard, which officially are not with support of Java6 (and no available information when will be) and from work I use company hardware without install rights, often without Java support, or with older java versions.
I wish that you can maintain a java5 version for some time, at least with updates in the preset, so that those of us that are not able to migrate to Java6 still can have a fairly up to date JOSM. The wiki page should help us with the migration as well.
See Help/SystemRequirements. According to discussions in talk and talk-de also older Mac system can upgrade to Java 6.
