Validator crashes, plugin loading not possible

Reported by: Valentijn Owned by: team

Component: Core Version: latest

Description (last modified by stoecker)

When running "josm-tested", trying to load the Validator plugin fails, because the Validator needs at least JOSM 1.725, and wmsplugin needs 1.722.

However, running a later version (I tested 1729 and 1732) crashes the validator when trying to upload even trivial changes (changed the name of a road - crash!).

Normally, this would be a typical plugin error. But, as the JOSM main screen tells me I need the validator, this clearly is a JOSM bug.

This makes JOSM unusable, i.e. you cannot use it as advertised. So I took the liberty of marking this a "critical" error.

Workarounds could be:

  • change the text of the opening screen to not have to use the validator
  • have version 1669 download a different version of the validator, so it will keep working
  • point users to a different version of the validator, so it will keep working
