What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Try to load Bing inagery
- Error message fillsscreen
What is the expected result? Bing imagery should appear.
What happens instead? Error messages

Solved by clearing caches in imagery preferences tab.

(The resolution wasn't a JOSM code change but a configuration on the user end.)

I don't think so (different symptoms).
As a stupid question, do you do any filtering on your network (example: pihole, proxy, etc.)?
If you do any filtering on the network, and the filtering is blocking the URL we use (the pattern is
https://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Imagery/Metadata/{layer}?include=ImageryProviders&output=xml&key={apikey}
, where{layer}
and{apikey}
are replaced), then everything is working "as expected".
