Description

The message went to a website with the country code .de, so I wrote German. But nevertheless, anyone who is on the Internet can use a translation program, such as deep.com. It is not witchcraft.
But the whole thing again in English:
I get the georeferenced photos loaded both via drag-and-drop and via the "Open file" dialog in JOSM. They are displayed to me as a layer, the locations also on the map. The actual display in an extra window has disappeared. I used to be able to get the image window by clicking on the rectangle in the map display. This does not work anymore. There is also no display via the "camera-icon" in the left bar and the shortcut "Y". I have already searched the internet, but have not found a solution.

That is exactly what I did using Firefox Translate. It came out a bit garbled, which is why I didn't know if I understood the problem.
Anyway, you have to click on the image location you want to view () which I think you are referring to as "the rectangle in the map display".

As I have already written: This no longer works.
I don't know why. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled JOSM, but there was no change.

That is odd -- it works for me on macOS and Fedora Silverblue (flatpak install). I need to know how you installed it and what arguments you are using to run it.
Thanks for your report, however your ticket is incomplete and therefore not helpful in its current form.

Problem solved.
The image window had slipped down so that the frame of the image window was over the frame of the JOSM window. I saw by chance that the shape of the cursor changed when I moved it to the bottom edge of the main window. It would be advisable to use a button and/or a shortcut to bring the image window back into the display.
Please note I am replying to an auto translated version of your description. I am not at all certain that I understood the problem.
If your problem was the image no longer automatically appears in an image viewer window, you can view an image by doing one of the following:
y
) -> Click on an image in the mapviewIs that what your problem was?
