#23099 new enhancement

Don't show wikidata items with "end_time"

Description

The Wikipedia plugins download and shows wikidata items that nowadays aren't elements which can be mapped in OSM. Maybe using a "end_time" filter could improve the behaviour.

Maybe also don't show items with "point in time" property.

Please add the version information for both JOSM and the Wikipedia plugin.

Property "dissolved, abolished or demolished date" https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P576 is also useful for the same filter.

JOSM Version: 18789
Wikipedia plugin version: 605

Replying to gaben:

Please add the version information for both JOSM and the Wikipedia plugin.

We have a [[BadReport]] macro that will fill in the steps to get the information, e.g.

Thanks for your report, however your ticket is incomplete and therefore not helpful in its current form.

Please add all needed information according to this list:

  • The required parts of the Status Report from your JOSM.
  • Describe what behaviour you expected.
  • Describe what did happen instead.
  • Describe if and how the issue is reproducible.
  • Add any relevant information like error messages or screenshots.

To ensure that all technical relevant information is contained, create new tickets by clicking in JOSMs Main Menu on Helpsource:trunk/resources/images/bug.svg Report Bug.

Remember: This is a generic notice so we don't need to write the same stuff again and again. It may only apply in parts to the specific case!

With that said, there hasn't been any activity on the wikipedia repo in a year, so it is probably unnecessary in this case.

Beyond that, since no one is actively maintaining the wikipedia plugin, it would help if the person requesting this feature could do a bit more fleshing out of what they expect. For example, given wikidata item <foo>, there should not be a suggestion to map it in OSM.

Thanks, I was looking for it as I saw @skyper using something template-like.

For example, this item https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4870657 is a battle and should not be suggested (is not a Feature in OSM - https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Features)

In general, all wikidata items with property "point in time" (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P585) should not be suggested, as such property indicates that does not exist nowadays, and quoting the Feature wiki page: "OpenStreetMap is all about mapping real and current features of the real world. We don't include opinionated data like ratings, historical or hypothetical features."
