Seems the JOSM API key was flagged as bad due to increased massive load. We'll see what Maxar answers.

Would it be worth it to write an integration test specifically for {apikey}
servers?
I do know that HOT did a massive push to map the recent Turkey earthquakes, which might have caused a spike in tile usage.
See https://tasks.hotosm.org/projects/14218/stats and https://twitter.com/hotosm/status/1622936849214734342 .
I just checked to see if we were clearing the imagery cache somewhere accidentally (it can look like we do in the UI), and it doesn't look like we do that (my testing downloaded ~500 tiles).

No - Happens very seldom. Usually API key failures are some sort of communication problem with key rotation :-)

Maxar told me that the key is indeed blocked, but for another reason. We'll see how this situation can be resolved.

Would it be possible that Maxar sends you one more key so that we have one spare and can quickly change it the next time the key is blocked before they send a new one. I.e. always have one on safety stock.

I fear that's not how they see that working :-) Anyway they probably will switch to OAuth2.

login failed - an invalid connect ID was specified...
Is it supposed to be working?

@grinapo: Please read https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/maxar-imagery-not-working-was-maxar-is-blurred-in-id-and-other-similar-topics/100524/23 .
The important thing is we have not gotten a new API key, and neither has any other OSM editing application. At this point, I believe it is unlikely that we will get a new one at all. It is highly likely that they will switch to a method where each individual OSM user gets their own key, and we will have to implement some method for getting that key.
In the meantime, if your local government provides suitably licensed imagery, please add it to the appropriate wiki:Maps subpage and the ELI (for iD).
If your government does not have suitably licensed imagery, but they still have their own imagery, you may be able to get permissions for OSM use if you ask them nicely.

Thank you, that is pretty useful thread. And sad, the same time.

Would make it simpler for them to handle abuse and disable it without widespreading colletaral damage.

Laughing out loud. My government rather poured gasoline on the imagery and burn it instead of offering it freely. All the imagery commercial sector have offered (and our own drone coverage) is already there.
If your government does not have suitably licensed imagery, but they still have their own imagery, you may be able to get permissions for OSM use if you ask them nicely.
"It may be possible to convince your horse to cross the river, swimming backstroke." :-)
Good as a generic advise though. I hope the Foundation and Maxar can reach an agreement then, that's not anything JOSM could fix (unless someone knows someone at Maxar).
