Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Start JOSM
- Do some stuff for a few minutes
- Try to type something into a text box (like the add tag menu)
- It will not highlight or type.
What is the expected result?
Textbox would highlight and I would be able to type normally
What happens instead?
Textbox does nothing, cannot type
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.
To save your data you have to make a seperate empty file and save to that because you can't type in a save name.
I am using JOSM development version 18439 on a Raspberry Pi full with Debian Buster (10)
I have not experienced the same issue on my PC running JOSM 18427.

Webstart could be another pitfall. On Debian, you might want to try our own (Ubuntu) packages, see Download. Advantages are full system integration, no webstart plus possibility of having tested
and latest
version installed at the same time.

This probably won't fix this specific problem -- like I indicated, I've occasionally run into the same problem, and I typically run josm like this: cd ~/workspace/josm && svn up && cd core && ant clean dist && java -jar dist/josm-custom.jar
. I've just always assumed it was my specific setup, as the system is fairly unstable right now (every so often, some applications crash, and I get severe UI stutters).
Best guess: something is stealing input focus somewhere. I'll see if I can debug this when I get home. AKA, I'll have to see if I can reproduce.
I've encountered this a few times. I didn't have a debugger handy when that happened, and I don't have a reliable way to reproduce.
I've got arch on my home PC. I wonder if this is a linux specific bug, since you indicate that you've never seen this on your PC (presumably Windows).
