I opened relation 5675572 in the relation editor.
Nothing happens in the layer pane.
No new relation layer is added.

Oh, I am sorry, it seem that it does not always work by simply selecting a route relation. E.g. PTv1 does not trigger it but other like PTV2 and route=bicycle
do.
Anyway, please try the entry "Visualize public transport routes" in the Public Transport menu.

Replying to MSiipola:

Strange, it does open for me with this relation either opening the relation editor or only selecting the relation.

After reinstalling the plugin I got a entry in the "Map Paint Styles", but not a new layer.
I also got a new main menu entry "Public Transport", and by selecting in the menu "Visualize pubic transport routes", a new layer was added.
I'm a non native English speaker and maybe I misunderstood the Wiki text, but maybe the wiki text should be updated, clarifying the install procedure and what to expect.
You need to select a route relation to activate the layer.
