Description (last modified by )
I think there would be space somewhere to show the object ids, right now if an object has a name the id is not so visible.
E.g. in the selection window, the ID could be shown after the name (in the regular non-bold font, to distinguish it).
Also in the title bar of the tags window, it could be added
Quite important it would also be in the upload window.

Do you mean the Tags/memberships panel? It is for editing, if you want to see the IDs of the objects, use the selection panel instead.

Oh, I should have taken a look at the screenshots. I was thinking about dialogs beside the panels but dieterdreist is only talking about panels.
"worksforme" or "invalid"?

I think there was some point where you changed the default, because in the past I always saw the ids and from a certain point on, they were not shown any more. IMHO these should be visible by default.

If you need the IDs outside of JOSM, just select them, copy (CTRL-C) and paste them where you need them (like an editor). The result should be a list of "node/way/relation <id>".
There is a checkbox for this somewhere in the settings, disabled by default.
