How to Undo this OSM layer data?

I was working in JOSM. Instead of selecting "Download as new layer" from OSM I selected "Download" option. Now I am seeing all other data and inclined straight lines all around my AOI. How do I remove it?

Black spray is added in center of AOI for data privacy purposes

• create a new layer
• select your new or modified objects
• use Edit-> Merge selection

This way the hatched area stays which is probably unwanted.

comment:1 should work fine. New objects can quickly be selected in the search window by entering new.

Purge will not work all the time as modified parents will get purged, too.

Please, be careful with both methods. Especially, deleted objects can be tricky.

You have to select "all objects" on the left side and search for modified -(deleted id:0).
