#20015 closed enhancement (invalid)

Pre-load wms_endpoint layer list, and show them in a submenu

Reported by: Stereo Owned by: team

Description

JOSM's imagery index has 10 wms_endpoint type entries:

https://josm.openstreetmap.de/search?q=%3Ctype%3Ewms_endpoint%3C%2Ftype%3E&noquickjump=1&wiki=on

When you select one of these from the menu, it shows you the SelectWmsLayersDialog window with a tree of the available layers.

It would be more convenient if JOSM quietly loaded the available layers in the background, and showed them in a submenu tree, a bit like it currently does with the "Elevation map" or "Maps based on OSM data" categories.

Replying to Stereo:

JOSM's imagery index has 10 wms_endpoint type entries:

https://josm.openstreetmap.de/search?q=%3Ctype%3Ewms_endpoint%3C%2Ftype%3E&noquickjump=1&wiki=on

This search lists every page only once. Searching for <type>wms_endpoint</type> in https://josm.openstreetmap.de/maps gives 36 entries.

I don't understand the request. Lets take wiki:/Maps/Luxembourg#geoportail.lualllayers as example. When you add it in JOSM you get a tree with all the layers in folders and subfolders as defined by the service.

Yeah, the idea would be to have that tree directly in the menu.

Ah, ok. But then you couldn't choose the file type png or jpeg.

Ah, good point. The dialog makes sense after all, then.
