Reverse Way stomps on properties

When reversing a way that has two properties such as
left:township=Hampstead and right:township=Danville
a dialog box pops up asking to switch left:township
to right:township and right:township to left:township
to maintain data integrity. However after the
operation I am only left with the property
right:township=Hampstead

I am using version 1091
