Description
The power=plant is for the whole plant area. This is not a generator, which is a part within the plant area. Usually tagged on a building or with a node.
If user uses generator:source=* combined with power=plant then warn and suggest plant:source=*

Replying to mkoniecz:
Is it also applying for cases where there is a single generator? Is
power=plant generator:*= plant:source=*
on a single node incorrect in such case?
A power plant and a generator is never the same thing. I don't see why one would ever map a power plant as a node.
If the info on the plant is limited(under ground with no exact location), then you could add generator info in a note.
I tend to make a polygon for the generator hall for our hydro plants in Norway. Its not 100% accurate but it represents the plant itself at the proper location. Then I add the turbines inside.
Example:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/641020745#map=19/58.65816/6.72891&layers=D
https://openinframap.org/#17/58.65856/6.729076
If it is like a small hydro plant with no fenced off area, then map the building as the power plant and add a node for the generator with its specs inside it.

I should add that the power plant preset menu is lacking the plant:source option.
