Description
As a danish mapper watching the activity in Denmark almost daily, I regularly have to encourage german tourists (such as https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/55382493) or other foreigners to use the national danish SDFE imagery, which unlike Bing etc is updated once a year and sometimes have to revert incorrect changes based on Bing imagery. iD uses SDFE imagery by default when pointed to any area in Denmark, but JOSM unfortunately doesn't.
Is there a chance JOSM users can be notified that there's a "best" imagery when mapping in Denmark (and other similar regions)?

Virtually no new foreigners mapping in Denmark has been aware of the SDFE imagery, so I'd appreciate a pop-up notification or similar and perhaps a small blurb explaining what it is.

The best markings are an iD information. The concept of "best" is a crude workaround which I actually don't like much. We display that information for compatibility reasons only.
I'd agree to visually enhance some sorts of aerial imagery. Possible rules could be:
- recent (e.g. not more than 2 years old)
- it is marked as valid georeference
- it's aerial imagery
The first point is not determinable for SDFE, as the year information is missing in XML. The second point is not valid for this imagery, as the corresponding tag is not set. The third point is not yet possible to specify in XML.
Anyway I doubt your initial request will be solved. We wont tell users what to use, so if the click Bing because they know it, even an enhanced visibility will not change the behaviour.
The information if an entry is marked as "best" in the editor-layer-index is part of the JOSM imagery database. It can be seen e.g. by moving the map view to danmark, click on the imagery menu. In the mapview available imageries appear in the lower part of the menu. By hovering the entries you see the best marking. However there is no feature of JOSM that actively informs the users about best markings of possible other imageries.
