At least lang-de does not show hint how to deselect a selection

Inspired by (invalid) ticket #1509:
If one selects some ways/nodes with the select tool, the status bar shows in German:

Ziehen: Objekt verschieben. Shift: Auswahl hinzufügen. Shift-Strg: drehen oder Auswahl ändern.

I suggest to add:
Strg: Auswahl entfernen.
Ctrl: Remove selection.

But the Ctrl key doesn't deselect anything? Do you want us to add code to make Ctrl deselect the current selection, or do you want the text to read: "Click into an empty space to unselect"? Or "hit U to unselect"?

(Sorry for the late reply, e-mail notification did not seem to work and I also could not manage to sign up to this Trac installation.)

My use case is as follows:

1. I notice that I tagged many ways wrongly.
2. I switch to the select tool, hold the Shift button and start to select all the wrongly tagged ways by left-click.
3. During this process, I click on some way in error. Therefore I need to deselect only this way -- all the other previously selected ways should stay selected.

-> Problem: The user interface does not give a hint how to deselect only this way.
-> Solution: Add a hint to the status bar that deselection of already selected items is possible when holding the Ctrl key + left-click on an item.
