After posting this ticket, I notice that the changes amount to almost 4 MB.
Wasn't aware of this. All I did was correct the positioning of three aerialways and one bar in the Wilder Kaiser skiing area. Tried to upload these from Austria, but failed with the OAuth mechanism. (What is that, anyway? And how does it recognize I am logged in from a different country than usual?)
So, I saved the changes meaning to post them from home a few days later.
Should be glad about some info on how to proceed - i would not want to loose these changes!

Why do you think the changes amount to 4 MB? This sounds very unlikely for moving 5 nodes.

It doesn't, OAuth was activated as default in the new release.

Make sure it is unrelated to your authentication method by uploading another change first. If the problem persists, try basic authentication.

Hi bastiK,
I did as instructed: performed one small change (moving Biwak cabin to proper place) alone, and tried to upload.
The error about the closed stream reappears, I am not asked for Authentication at all.
Can it be, that my attempts to authenticate via OAuth from Austria failed, and that I am blocked out now?
Any hint on how to get out of that one?
(Personally, I was quite content with the simple authentication you used for the past four years!)

Certainly not.

The simple authentication is still available, you can switch back in the preferences (second tab). Regarding OAuth, most likely you have an invalid access token. You can try to get a new one (same preferences tab).

Hi bastiK,
Even before reading your reply, I managed to return to basic authentication under Bearbeiten > Einstellungen > Verbindungseinstellungen.
Then I was able to upload the small change, as well as bigger ones.
I think I'll stay off OAuth after this experience. Don't know what its's good for anyway...
Bye,

@gpermant, wandern10, Eebie: Would you please test the OAuth mode again with r9960 (for instance using https://josm.openstreetmap.de/download/josm-latest.jnlp)? We addressed an OAuth issue (#12584). If this resolves also your issue, we will do a release today.
