Cannot reproduce.
Can you tell me if you always got this error, and what did you do just before exiting JOSM? (at least what mode was enabled)
It was the first and only time I did spot it, so far. I'd only use selection and add mode but I do not know which one was active when exiting.

Sorry, missed the correct ticket again. Exactly this was fixed in 7293/josm
