v21 v45 1 [[TranslatedPages(outdated= The information on this page could be extended.)]]2 = Preferences > Map Settings = 1 [[TranslatedPages(outdated=Page content was split into several pages but there are still incorrect links leading to this page.)]] 2 [[PageOutline(2-4,Table of content)]] 3 3 4 [[Image(source:trunk/images/preferences/map.png)]] 4 = Preferences > Map Projection = 5 [[JOSMImage(preferences/map,link=)]] 5 6 6 7 Settings for the map projection and data interpretation 7 8 8 == Map Projection == 9 **Note**: On each startup JOSM sets the projection method, the coordinate display format and the system of measurement back to user default settings. 9 10 10 You can change the map projection method between Mercator, and some others. Be aware that projections maybe only valid for a certain area of the world.[[BR]] 11 The default projection for JOSM is Mercator. This projection has certain advantages, one of them is that geometric figures (e.g. circles and rectangles) aren't deformed when displayed. 11 == Projection method == 12 For the current session the projection method can be changed here. \\ 13 A list of common projections is offered. This list offers common projections (categories) by their name. The second to last entry, ''By Code (ESPG)'', offers a complete list of all known projection codes with a filter option on top. With the last entry, customs projections can be set. 12 14 13 When you use rasterized background imagery then you need to set a projection supported by the service providing this imagery. JOSM is not able to change raster images. When image projection and current settings do not match, you get warned. 15 [[Image(PreferencesMapProjection.png,link=,right,margin-left=15,50%)]] 14 16 15 == Map Paint Styles == 17 Projection code:: shows the EPSG code for the projection. 18 Bounds:: shows the region where the projection is valid. \\ 19 Some projections are valid only for small parts of the world. \\ 16 20 17 In this section sources for displaying the data can be changed. Beside the internal styles also externals styles are presented and can be activated. 21 Common default projection for JOSM is ''Mercator (EPSG:3857)''. \\ 22 It has certain advantages, one of them is that geometric figures (e.g. circles and rectangles) aren't deformed when displayed. \\ 23 JOSM re-projects raster images from the projection of the source automatically to the current projection method. 24 25 Set as default:: 26 With this button the user default setting for the projection method is set. 27 It is visible in [wikitr:/Help/ExpertMode Expert mode] only, #14877. 18 28 19 29 20 [[Image(MapPaintStylesPreferences.png)]] 30 == Display coordinates as == 31 Set the user default coordinate format (Decimal, Degrees, Nautical or Projected Coordinates). 21 32 22 See [wiki:Styles] and [Dialog/MapPaint Map Styles Toggle Dialog]. 33 34 == System of measurement == 35 Set the user default system of measurement (Metric, Chinese, Imperial or Nautical Mile). 23 36 24 == Tagging Presets == 37 In the [wikitr:/Help/StatusBar status bar] the coordinate format and the system of measurement can be changed in the context menu for the current session, individually. 38 So the numbers in ''Bounds'' may not fit to ''Display coordinates as''. 25 39 26 [wiki:Presets Presets] allow you to select predefined tags for [Concepts/Object objects]. From this area of the preferences menu you can choose which presets to use.27 40 28 The preset list will be downloaded automatically and then add **available presets** using [[Image(source:trunk/images/preferences/activate-right.png,20)]] the blue, right arrow in the middle, or include one from a URL or local file by clicking on the [[Image(source:trunk/images/dialogs/add.png,20)]] plus button on the right. 41 {{{#!comment 42 == See also == 43 }}} 29 44 30 [[Image(wiki:TaggingPresets:TaggingPresets.png)]]31 32 Adding presets requires a restart of JOSM. Then the tagging presets can be selected from the [Menu/Presets main menu].33 They can also be added to the toolbar under [Preferences/Toolbar Toolbar Customization].34 35 See [TaggingPresets tagging presets] for more details.36 37 == File Backup == #BackupSettings38 If you save geo data to a local file and the file already exists JOSM writes the data to a temporary file (with the suffix {{{~}}}). It then copies the temporary file to the target file.39 In the File Backup settings you can specify whether JOSM should delete the temporary file or whether it should leave it as "backup" in the file system.40 41 1. Go to the tab **File backup** in the Map Preferences42 1. Select or deselect the checkbox **Keep backup files**43 44 See [Action/AutoSave#Preferences AutoSave Preferences]45 45 ---- 46 Back to [Action/Preferences Preferences][[Br]] 47 Back to [wiki:/Help Main Help] 46 Back to [wikitr:/Help/Action/Preferences Preferences dialog] \\ 47 Back to [wikitr:/Help/Menu/Edit Edit Menu] \\ 48 Back to [wikitr:/Help/Menu Main Menu] \\ 49 Back to [wikitr:/Help Main Help]
