Editing Help/Menu/Audio

= Main menu > Audio =

This menu controls the playback of an audio recording that you would have made to complement the GPS tracks you collected during surveying.

If you are audio mapping a lot, you will probably want to use the [wiki:Help/Preferences/Toolbar Toolbar Preferences] to put the buttons for audio playback on your toolbar in the familiar arrangement of such controls.

You will also need to know how to:
  * [wiki:Help/Action/ApplyAudio apply an audio soundtrack to a set of waypoint markers].
  * [wiki:Help/Action/MakeSampledAudioLayer make a sampled audio layer] from your GPS track.
  * [wiki:Help/Action/SynchronizeAudio synchronize your sound track] with the GPS track.

== Play/pause ==

If not playing, plays the sound track from the first audio marker, or from the point at which it was paused.

If playing, pauses the sound.

== Next Marker ==

Plays the sound track from the audio marker next (in time) after the one where playing was last started. If the sound track started at a particular marker but then continued through one or more subsequent ones, the jump will still be to the marker after the one where playing was started, not where it happens to be now.

== Previous Marker ==

Plays the sound track from the audio marker previous (in time) after the one where playing was last started. If the sound track started at a particular marker but then continued through one or more subsequent ones, the jump will still be to the marker before the one where playing was started, not where it happens to be now.

== Forward ==

Jumps the audio forward 10 seconds (or whatever amount has been set in [wiki:Help/Preferences/Audio Audio Preferences]) and restarts playing if paused.

== Back ==

Jumps the audio backwards 10 seconds (or whatever amount has been set in [wiki:Help/Preferences/Audio Audio Preferences]) and restarts playing if paused.

== Fast Forward ==

Increases the speed of audio playback. Each use increases the speed further until one of the other controls is used. The amount by which the speed is changed can be set in [wiki:Help/Preferences/Audio Audio Preferences].

== Slow Forward ==

Decreases the speed of audio playback. Each use decreases the speed further until one of the other controls is used. The amount by which the speed is changed can be set in [wiki:Help/Preferences/Audio Audio Preferences].
