    66But if we really want to check the versions ourselves, it would be best to always specify a fixed version. We can then add the hash of that artifact and ensure that it will always be the same ([https://github.com/WhisperSystems/gradle-witness#the-witness-solution for gradle], there is the same for Maven somewhere). It is not 100% perfect (what if someone compromises that plugin...).

    8 I'm always open for changes, but only if we have a real advantage from it. So I'd prefer git if we really use it for branching. But it would be no use if we simply change it to have a more modern version control. Same for plugins. Wordpress uses a single SVN plugin repository that contains more than one million revisions, and it still works. The only issue is that trac does not like to display the root directory of that repo.
