#19738 closed defect (othersoftware)

contents of subwindows are not updated when opened

Reported by: tguen Owned by: team
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version:
Keywords: template_report Cc: tguen

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. add an imagery layer so you know where the camera is
  2. click File > Download Data - subwindow with slippy map opens with the view of the main window selected
  3. click Cancel button to close subwindow, move the camera in the main window, then reopen it

What is the expected result?

The slippy map should be updated to show the new camera location when reopened.

What happens instead?

It is only updated after performing an action that causes the subwindow to be redrawn, such as panning, zooming, or selecting an area in the slippy map, or resizing the subwindow.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

This issue affects other subwindows like the one for File > Upload Data. The contents are not fully updated until I resize the subwindow. However the contents can be partially updated - if I scroll in one of the Objects To Create/Modify/Delete lists, the contents of that list will be updated. I hope this makes sense. If you need it, I may be able to figure out how to make a video of the issue.

I cannot reproduce this. What map do you use for the slippy map? Some tile servers are faster than others, maybe try a different one.

I use the default. That's definitely not the problem, it's not just the slippy map. Like I said, it affects the upload window too. I have the same problem on two different systems, both running Arch/Plasma. One has Intel gpu, the other AMD so it doesn't look like a driver issue.

Ah, yes, sounds more like a problem in the window manager.

Just did some testing, looks like you were right. I can reproduce the issue only on Plasma desktop, not Gnome or LXQt.

Just interested: Which x-server did you use, plain X or XWayland?

comment:7 by tguen, 4 years ago

I'm using X11. Haven't bothered to try Wayland yet due to a couple missing features.
