#15982 new enhancement
Option to suggest format for wms_endpoint imagery

Description
Some wms_endpoint services provide both orthoimagery and line drawings. The choice of format is image/jpeg by default, which might not be the best choice.
It would be nice to be able to suggest a format for specific layers in a wms_endpoint entry.

I once had an wms where the tiles as png were fine and the tiles as jpeg not (or vice versa). I don't remember which wms, but I changed the format in our wiki for this reason long ago.
The problem with one variant was that pure white pixels (#FFFFFF) were displayed black. So areas with a slight overexposure e.g. car roofs were displayed black instead of white. (Or maybe it was not black but transparent and the black josm background appeard at these areas.) Anyway the imagery looked a bit strange.

I'm not sure if wms_endpoint really should be extended. For fine-tuning the WMS entries can be used.
Can you please give an example?
Why jpeg is sometimes not a good choice?
